Since 1998 and still going strong! How we have developed over the years...
Voiceovers.co.uk was launched back in 1998 as the first ever online voiceover directory - helping producers and clients find voiceover artists for their projects. This was a time before mp3 files and Google!
We set up our first studio in a spare room, with a trusty old wooden mixing desk (MBI series 24a) bought second hand from Plymouth Sound radio.
Early 2000s... website grows...
In the early 2000s we started getting recognition as a trusted platform, and grew organically. We were offered venture capitalist funding but decided to turn it down, as there was a risk the stakeholders would have wanted to eventually push the company down a non ethical path.
The website and studio spaces developed over the years...
In 2024 we bought a building and rebuilt the studios from scratch...
Our core team has grown and changed over the years. For a long time now though, the core team has been Gary, Matt, Jack and Andrew. With co-founder Paul Philpott running a sister company but still offering management support.
2026: New Website Launched...
Our company is still owned and managed by the original founders (Gary Churcher and Paul Philpott), and we have no stakeholders or venture capitalists to pull us away from our ethics.
What's next?
We have further plans to support the audio industry and our voiceover artists, watch this space!
